The Queen Mother by Alastair Burnet was the first title to be published by Michael O'Mara Books and amazingly, it became a number one best-seller. This book provided sufficient funds to move from the spare bedroom of Michael O'Mara's home and into proper offices. We now occupy three buildings in Clapham's Lion Yard. Publishing around 40 new, non-fiction titles a year, Michael O'Mara Books is a highly successful, independent company. Our extensive backlist is published worldwide both in English and foreign languages, including some specific fiction anthologies, mainly animal stories. We publish popular biography and history, mind body and spirit, and have a large humour, quotation collection list. We also publish children's books, and have just launched a new children's imprint called Buster Books. From Madonna to the Little Books, and Busy Day Train to farting books, we really do have an eclectic list!

Children's Books for pleasure...

Over the past 15 years Michael O'Mara Books has steadily built up a list of children's titles. After continual increased growth in sales it was decided to launch a separate imprint, and thus Buster Books was born. Buster is Lucie O'Mara's tenacious Norwich terrier who not only appears on the spines of the children's books, but makes guest appearances in many of our publications.

Heading our list we have the ultimate in interactive books - Hide and Seek with Leo and Sweet Dreams Honey Bear with amazing latex hand puppets (published in July, 2001). Fabulous touch and feel board books, first learning kits and photographic flip-overs ensure the list will appeal to foreign and UK trade customers. We are dedicated to providing irresistible and fun books for children of all ages.
